Model Classrooms Project Training
MCP Snapshot involves a one hour session with a small group of decision makers who are considering beginning MCP training to bring about instructional continuity in their agency. It involves a bit of chalk talk, some informal discussion and questions/answers.
MCP Overview usually takes place over two or three consecutive days, but it can be conducted in a one-day to five-day format. In one-day MCP Overview sessions, participants learn the basics regarding the MCP's six categories of instructional strategies. In a two-day or a three-day MCP Overview session, participants observe the modeling of many MCP strategies and they participate in hands-on experiences that allow them to understand the nuances of implementation. In a four-day or five-day MCP Overview session, materials development takes place (rubrics, vocabulary enhancement tools, lessons, etc.) some of which is done using Curriculum Project software products.
Instructional Leadership Training can occur as a precursor to teacher training in order to get instructional leaders "up and running" prior to the onset of teacher training, and/or it can take place as a follow up to teacher training as a means of identifying instructional leadership strategies for supporting and maintaining MCP implementation. Either way, it is strongly recommended that building administrators participate in initial MCP teacher training.
Targeted Topics sessions can be used to address skill areas such as lesson openings, vocabulary enhancement, questioning strategies, student products/assessments, and lesson closings. Topics such as these are often addressed during the summer, on staff development days, or during teacher planning sessions throughout the school day.
Video Training Clips will begin during 2010 - 2011 as a means of reinforcing and extending concepts taught during other MCP training sessions and a means of introducing MCP strategies to educators who have not participated in face-to-face sessions. Stay tuned for more information.
