Model Classrooms Project Implementation & Follow-up

Teacher Study Groups involve six, forty-five minute meetings per year in which Study Group Facilitators lead a small group of colleagues in discussion of instructional strategies that are pertinent to that time of year. During each meeting, teachers select new strategies to implement or refinements to be made during the coming month, and reflect on the successes and areas of concern from the previous months' work. Study groups can be run by a Curriculum Project (TCP) consultant or an agency based Study Group Facilitator.

Facilitator Study Groups involve six, forty-five minute meetings per year, to offer support and instruction in facilitating study groups using concrete, field-tested methods. Facilitators receive initial training during MCP Start-up Training for the district, and subsequent meetings focus on the upcoming monthly instructional strategies. In addition, Study Group Facilitators maintain informal communication with TCP consultants as needed.

Administrator Study Groups enable campus based instructional leaders to provide ongoing support to their teachers and facilitators during MCP implementation. Meetings can be held during regular administrative sessions, monthly, or at intervals throughout the school year.

Video Training Clips will begin during 2010 - 2011 as a means of reinforcing and extending concepts taught during other MCP training sessions and a means of introducing MCP strategies to educators who have not participated in face-to-face sessions. Stay tuned for more information.

MCP Follow-up takes many forms depending on district goals. Once yearly training of all new hires, quarterly or semester updates and training, end of year goal setting or other. An agency that has committed to long term organizational growth with MCP will understand their own need for follow-up to ensure the continuation of excellence.
