
The
Curry/Samara Model® of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment (CSM)
The
Curry/Samara Model is comprised of strategies related to curriculum, instruction
and assessment. It helps teachers to: (1) complement factual subject matter with
rich, global concepts; (2) foster basic and abstract levels of thinking as related
to core content; and (3) engage and assess students through traditional as well
as innovative, authentic products.
CSM
involves a variety of field-tested, staff development options that help K-12 educators
to:
| (1)
engage students of all abilities and learning styles through specific, dynamic
instructional strategies;
(2)
create rich and effective lesson plans and units of study based on state and/or
local curricula and assessments;
(3)
employ authentic student products, performances and assessments that prepare students
for in school and out of school success; and
(4)
set and achieve campus wide goals to improve student performance. |
Applications/Target Audience
The
CSM involves staff development options that are effective in: (1) K- 12 grade
levels; (2) special education, general education and gifted education environments;
(3) rural, suburban and urban localities; (4) situations involving economically
challenged to economically advantaged families; and (5) multi-cultural communities.

of formats including the unit matrix, lesson plans, product guides and related
